As in my own personal studies in physics and glaciology and in my ‘parallel’ passion, namely mineralogy, research, whether it is a formula, a particular crystal or a climbing line, is as much the cardinal principle as the indispensable fuel for growth and development in any discipline. Precisely by virtue of the pleasure of discovery, for several years now, my vertical life has focused almost exclusively on the hunt for new passages and areas still hidden and to be sent, like gems secretly set in the splendid and varied rock that abundantly embraces the entire Valtellina. Thanks to this new interpretation of bouldering, I can assure you that the burning flame of the ‘first ascent’ guarantees any climber an indissoluble desire to practice this splendid sport. All this in spite of the long and, at times, unprofitable walks and the intense and frenetic work of cleaning and arranging the boulders and bases, obviously without disregarding the profound, almost obsequious, respect that we all owe to the fragile and generous nature that surrounds us and gives us these enigmatic jewels of pure stone!
Having the opportunity to participate in the marking of Melloblocco 2025, therefore, represents for me not only a commitment and a responsibility towards all participants and climbing lovers, but also, and above all, an opportunity to contribute, with the philosophy and approach that I prefer, to the continuous, dare I say sempiternal, evolution of Valmasino, a paradise of granite, woods and streams, unique and always to be discovered, with a watchful eye and sometimes, why not, naively dreamy!
